Rabbi Jimmy Kessler has served B’nai Israel for 24 years.  He is a native Houstonian, a graduate of the University of Texas and an ordinee of the Hebrew Union College –Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Rabbi Kessler holds the first earned doctorate in Texas Jewish History and an honorary degree from HUC-JIR.  He has written three books and edited one.

Rabbi Kessler is a delightful storyteller and popular speaker on Texas Jewish history.  He is the founder and first president of the Texas Jewish Historical Society.  Rabbi Kessler is very active in the Galveston community, serves as the Jewish Chaplain at UTMB and teaches Philosophy at Galveston College.
